I had a useful chat with John about the MoSCoW method of project planning. MoSCoW stands for:
Must
o
Should
Could
o
Won’t
This is a good starting point for a software project in particular, where it can be possible for features to come to the fore at the wrong time of the development cycle, to the detriment of what should be the overarching goals of the project. MoSCoW helps focus the development cycle on core requirements, and produces a priority list for the later phases.
I came across a newly minted set of UK gov’t digital design guidelines, which covers the expected bases of an agile development approach, with early testing and repeated iteration recommended. But best of all, each point is headed in a reassuring ‘Keep Calm And Carry On’ font. Thank you, Eric Gill.
